Inaudible - Effie Gray review by CP Customer

What, no subtitles? Visually the film was superb, especially the locations, and the cast was excellent, but that is of no avail when you can't hear a word.

Interesting - Effie Gray review by MM

Beautiful cinematography in set scenes. The script made Ruskin a total villain, ditto his parents - so a bit wooden/cliche, but worth seeing for its interesting story and sumptuousness. Subtitles would have made it more enjoyable as the sound was not the best.

Beautiful historical drama - Effie Gray review by CP Customer

This was a delight, Dakota Fanning in her finest performance is increasingly restrained as the neglected, oppressed Effie. The cast is strong and the toxic influence of Ruskin's suffocating parents is intensely depicted. I would have loved to have seen more of Effie's later, happier life.. Visually a quietly beautiful film.
