In a post-apocalyptic, nuclear-scarred future the world has become a radioactive, neon drenched, industrial wasteland populated by the disenfranchised and the demented. Amidst the dust and decay of a poisoned landscape a 'Zone Tripper' manages to salvage a disembodied robotic head. But what is initially mistaken for discarded techno trash is in fact the mechanical remains of the M.A.R.K 13: a merciless killing machine programmed to activate, exhilarate and exterminate. After ending up in the isolated apartment of an introverted artist, the M.A.R.K 13 re-assembles itself for an eye gouging, chainsaw wielding, body drilling, skull-crushing rampage where no flesh shall be spared. Essential Brit Science Fiction - Hardware review by CP Customer
Overlooked by time, Hardware is an original low budget British science fiction film that has gathered cult status. It is well deserved as Richard Stanley brings his unique visual style to the project that lives on far long after the film as ended. What they did with budget is remarkable, using existing locations and a small cast, leaving the talent of everyone involved to speak for itself. Humanity is a radioactive mess, struggling to breed and rebuild what little is left of the previous society. A traveller finds something out in the wasteland sells it for junk, but Mark-13 is a deadly machine now stirred into action. The commentary is excellent as well.

One of my all-time favourites - Hardware review by JV
Apparently inspired by (amongst others) Dario Argento's Suspiria & Lars Von Trier's Element Of Crime, Richard Stanley set about directing this vibrant, colourful & enticingly unpleasant VISION of humanity reduced to post-apocalyptic nightmare while being ruled over by an authoritarian government. A Killer droid gets into a young women's apartment and tries to kill her & everyone else. That's it. But it's the way the underlying themes of the movie are complemented by the horribly evocative visuals, awesome musical score and a unique cornucopia of sound effects that make this, for me at least, something of a tour-de-force & a genuinely harrowing but exciting cinema experience! Criminally neglected.
