- For more than 40 years the Passion play has been a success in the famous Montreal Basilica, but over the years it has become old-fashioned and the priest in charge decides a change is needed. Daniel (Lothaire Bluteau), a young actor in Montreal, is asked to update the play. Recruiting a younger, more inventive cast, the show becomes a huge success, despite the lack of approval from his employer. However, gradually and inevitably, the actors find that the life of Christ has an extraordinary impact on their real-life existence...

Jesus for existentialist - Jesus of Montreal review by tm
a very arthouse updating of the Jesus myth with nuanced script which explores myriad themes from the gospels. it is not dated and remains vibrant and powerful.
a stark and uncomfortable tale told with elegance and occasional wit.
