In my humble opinion 'Klown' is NOT hilarious. It certainly "pushes the boundaries" but not of comedy but of the definition of comedy. Frank's friends relationship advice... "give her a pearl necklace". Frank, "what from Tiffany's?".. huge amounts of laughter.. "no you ejaculate on her neck".
Sorry, that is not comedy.
This Danish film was funny in parts - gross-out sometimes, but then look at Hollywood teen movies. This had some really funny bits and is not po-faced like US movies, so I am glad I watched it.
Not sure about the impro style though - common in Denmark. And totally unrealistic and unbelievable.
I enjoyed the jokes which would never get past censors in the UK or US, with the po-faced puritan hysteria of now. Jokes about rape/sexual assault banned now in US/UK.
Still, a Danish oddity. And mercifully short. Cartoon character stuff but fun and funny moments. The satire of privilege people male and female is fun.
The kids is cute - there is a sequel too. I suspect this is from a Danish TV show or a well-known comedian, though new to me.
3 stars.
Not sure how this got onto my list, but I wish I never rented it. Maybe you need to have seen the TV show to find it funny, I didn't. The performers do a decent job, but the supposedly shocking events fall flat, and everything is just so predictable.
The two main characters are just pathetic immoral man-babies, but we spend so much time in their company to make the movie itself pathetic and morally dubious. Quite sad that a film only made in 2010 would seem so dated already.
