Rent this film! - Life Is Beautiful review by CP Customer

I nearly sent this film back without watching it, but I'm glad I didn't. It is everything it says in the blurb: unique, funny and heartwrending. The constant laughing and joking of the main character somehow makes the atrocities of the Nazi regime even more appalling. Very, very moving and definite 'must-see'.

Bittersweet - Life Is Beautiful review by CP Customer

Roberto Begnini gives an exquisite performance as the jester who tries to make his son laugh to mask the horror of WW2. A simple story, beautifully framed and heartbreakingly overlaying the worst and best of humanity.

The photography is beautiful - Life Is Beautiful review by JD

Spoiler Alert

It seems to be a hallmark of French and Italian films that the photography is often gorgeous. The plot and direction are however so bubbly as to be moderately offensive. Probably best watched when you're in a very light-hearted and juvenile mood not as a Friday night film.
