Synopsis:
Alex is a young addict. Although he sells his body he still nurtures a few dreams. Bound in dependence to a group of equally disparate characters, days and nights are a seemingly endless cycle of sex and drugs. Orphans of a wild tribe, they live and love, restless vagrants in the shadows of society's comfort and indifference - and yet somehow some humanity, even poetry survives. An unflinching, topical look at the darker side of gay life 'Love in the Time of Civil War' is heart-stoppingly captivating.

Dreadful, Boring, Plotless, Aimless, Student-y French-Canadian dross - Love in the Time of Civil War review by PV

I watched half an hour of this rubbish and could stand it no more.

It thinks it's being radical and shocking, showing gay sex and drug taking. Well it isn't. It's being pretentious and boring.

The sort of movie state funding pays for over and over again, sadly.

Feeble - Love in the Time of Civil War review by DA

Spoiler Alert
31/07/2017

This film aims to show that life on drugs is pointless. It succeeds. There's little more to say: it's unoriginal, uncompelling, and has no particular insights to offer (it makes a lot of the cash that is the basis of the various 'relationships', but there's nothing new about that). Don't be seduced by attempts to make the film look sexy; that's also a tired and - in this context especially - cynical ploy.
