this is an excellent documentary. it is not sentimental and it just gets on with it. it makes us very aware of male chauvinism but that is not its main point. whether you are interested in sailing or not you will really engage with this film. it is about courage, endurance, and the Olympian spirit which states that the important thing is to have participated rather than to win.
This has been well thought out and gives an insightful take on the pioneers of crewed ocean racing. This is a riveting watch. The look on Tracy’s face as they returned to tumultuous applause and cheers was moving. It is a great account of the efforts to put together an all female crew and get a boat ready in what was up until then a male dominated sport. It’s great to see that today women play a big part in all aspects of sailing.
I rented this for my parents as my dad has been a fanatical sailer his whole life & wanted to see this documentary, so this review is his feedback rather than my own personal experience.
They both loved it as a piece of cinema showing the struggles of getting sponsorship & a yacht in order to compete in the round the world race as the first female team.
The interviews were great and there was lots of new background information which hadn't been shown/spoken about before.
Came highly recommended
