Most sequels are disappointing, and this one is no exception. 'Meet the parents' was a great film with some funny jokes, mostly coming from the bumbling Gaylord and Pam's domineering and slightly psychotic father. On the other hand, 'Meet the Fockers' is nothing more than a bundle of cheap gags wrapped up in a wafer thin plot. If you were a big fan of the first film, then this is something you'll probably want to see, just don't expect as many laughs.
Not as good as the first one.
I'm probably one of the few people who actually likes this better than the first film, which I found rather cruel. The Fockers, played brilliantly by Striesand and Hoffman, are ageing hippies who seem to embarass their son at every turn with their unconvential behaviour, yet it is obvious that they love him dearly. That was the difference for me, as I thought Meet The Parents was merely about total humiliation of Greg, which I found painful to watch. This film, however, I think is much funnier and manages to be endearing at the same time.
