- Synopsis:
A young recently married woman, Gwenda Reed (Geraldine Alexander), comes back to England after living most of her life in New Zealand. While her husband, Giles (John Moulder-Brown), is out of the country she buys a house for them and starts recalling memories which make her start to think that perhaps she had lived in the house before. It's only then, while dining out with friends, that a chance remark triggered off a frightening memory, as a little girl, looking down at a woman's body and the murderer with "monkey paws" hands. Gwenda is determined to find out the sources of this memory. The killer, thought that he/she was safe after eighteen years and is prepared to kill to cover up the past. But Gwenda has help as one of her dining friends is Raymond West (David McAlister), who has a very special Aunt who is willing to help Gwenda - Miss Jane Marple (Joan Hickson)... - Actors:

Good - Miss Marple: Sleeping Murder review by SB
Joan Hickson is as reliable as ever in her performance as Miss Marple in this story - the last one by Agatha Christie featuring the village detective (she actually wrote it decades earlier, to be published after her death).
In this story of a murder uncovered from years before, Miss Marple is less active than in other stories, but acts as a sort of mentor to the young married couple who are determined to find out what happened in their Devon home. The supporting cast are all good, and the late 50s period settings and atmosphere excellent. The identity of the killer is perhaps a little too obvious, but that need not spoil enjoyment of this episode.
