Synopsis:
One of the most notorious films ever made, 'Myra Breckinridge' caused an outcry on its release, prompting one reviewer to call it 'a pornographic remake of Charley's Aunt'. Since then this over-the-top comedy of excess has built a huge cult following. Based on the novel by Gore Vidal, the story follows Myron, who has a sex change, becomes Myra and travels to Hollywood to claim an inheritance, though her real mission is "the destruction of the American male in all its particulars".

Disastrous version of Gore Vidal novel. - Myra Breckinridge review by Steve

Spoiler Alert
18/12/2012

Raquel Welch plays a post op sex change, who goes to Hollywood for extended picaresque encounters with trippy seventies weirdos with stupid names.

The only plus point of this sad film is the central appearance of seventies uber-sexbomb, Raquel Welch. But even that pleasure is destroyed by the pitiful appearance of a 75 year old Mae West, as a kind of living waxwork version of her former persona, delivering depressing double entendres to, among others, a pre 'tache Tom Selleck.
