Synopsis:
When his colleague is shot dead by a burglar during a chase in North London, PC Frank Mason vows to bring the killer to justice. After volunteering to become a dog-handler he finds he soon he has a new partner to help him on his mission. Rex, the seemingly untamable Alsatian, quickly shows an aptitude for police work, and Frank moves the loyal canine into his home. And soon Rex starts to take over his life in more than Frank anticipated, much to the irritation of his girl-friend Pat, who begins to resent the growing bond between the two. In the meantime, the killer has been lying low. Until, strapped for cash, he breaks into a factory.
The 999 call brings Frank and Rex running in hot pursuit... and the situation swiftly turns violent.

Four Legs Good, Two Legs Dull. - Police Dog review by NC

Spoiler Alert
30/04/2019

Outside of the scenes with Rex and his chums, this is one of those poor, cheap B films from the '50's which were produced on a near endless conveyor belt. There is a fairly decent chase at the start, and a mite of tension at the end, thanks to Rex, when the criminal is cornered. In between, there are some shots of police dog training, but unfortunately there is more time spent on a very dull romance, and dull conversations in a police station canteen involving an incredibly young Christopher Lee. Despite his presence there is only one star of the show...woof.

For dog lovers only.

Christopher lee Police Dog - Police Dog review by GM

Spoiler Alert
16/11/2018

The first time i saw this film and i wouldn't believe it that Christopher lee was a policeman, he played a good part. i just cannot understand why they are lowering the speech when he says son of a bitch that wasn't bad language considering they use foul language in todays so called films, its a pity it was not in colour. but i enjoyed watching it has now its on DVD i can enjoy watching even more.
