- It is the Autumn of 208 AD and 100,000 peasants flee with their beloved leader Liu Bei from Cao Cao's million man army. With the aid of heroes, Zhao Yun and Zhang Fei, they escape across the Great River to take refuge with Sun Quan, the leader of the south. As Cao Cao prepares his huge navy to invade Southern China and destroy them all, geniuses, Zhuge Liang and Zhou Yu devise a grand strategy to destroy Cao Cao's thousands of ships with fire upon the river. However, they must first trick Cao Cao into chaining his ships together, and then change the direction of China's famous and freezing North Wind. More than this, they must hatch their legendary schemes before Cao Cao is ready to attack.

If you decide to watch this film then do yourself a favour. Set it running and then go and do something else for 20 minutes as that is the amount of time that those miserable gits at Entertainment Film Distributors will steal from your life. Trailer after trailer after trailer of sixth rate naff films that no-one in their right mind would ever want to watch. And they inhibit your DVD controls so you can't skip past any. Bastards.

okay movie but awful subtitles - Red Cliff review by CP Customer
Hi,
I agree with another review regarding the trailers, you have to watch them, you have no choice as they have disabled the remote control. The movie is okay, if it had been in English it would have been great. I found some bits confusing on who was who. The subtitles are the worst I have seen for a long time. Too small and not very clear. This version is a cut down version of a five hour movie.
