- Synopsis:
- The Prime Minister (Frederick Worlock) of the European Monarchy of Rovenia hires Holmes (Basil Rathbone) to safeguard the young heir, Nicholas (Leslie Vincent) on his journey from London to his homeland after his father, the King, has been assassinated. The story unfolds on board a liner and Holmes and Watson (Nigel Bruce) foil a series of assassination attempts and outwit fiendish plots to kidnap the Prince. As the liner slips through the fog sinister characters board the ship and Holmes has to use all his cunning to keep the Prince from harm and deliver him safely to Algiers.

True to Doyle - Sherlock Holmes: Pursuit to Algiers review by JD
The recent Holmes films have been thrilling and dramatic but so loosely based on the book as to deserve another title. This has the feel of the book. Swirling fogs and impeccable English with an elegance lacking in the newer versions. It doesn't centre on detective skill to my chagrin, more on the storyline which is complex enough to stay interesting with a pleasant twist.
