- Synopsis:
- Set in the turbulent period of Japanese history known as the Sengoku period – or the era of warring states – this story features a young orphan on the run with his dog, Tobimaru. He is pursued by a Chinese army hell-bent on capturing him for the glory of their Emperor. A chance meeting leads the orphan to entreat a nameless samurai, scarred by previous conflicts, to be his bodyguard. This marks the beginning of a journey that pits the nameless samurai head-to-head against an army of bloodthirsty Chinese swordsmen who will kill anything that gets in their way!

The classic wandering ronin story... - Sword of the Stranger review by Schrödinger's Cake
From the outset the animation is beautifully drawn and choreographed, and all the time accompanied by an emotive sound-track.
From a story perspective it is simply another rendition of the classic ronin tale, but none-the-less it's an enjoyable film to watch.
