to when ladies in Switzerland were barred from voting and the movement that was gathering pace to have the law changed, and the struggles they went through primarily with their husbands etc, and ladies who had carved a niche for themselves and were doing nicely, fearing what a change could mean. Well acted and the director avoided trivialising the issue to get story over.
Entertaining and good hearted film. The lead couple are each essentially good people trying to make a good marriage, against the backdrop of an old-fashioned patriarchal society. As women unite to try to bring about change to give them more choice and freedom , Nora almost unwittingly becomes a leader for change.
It’s a funny , warm film with a feel-good factor that is nevertheless based on the real social conditions for women around 1970.
Educational and very watchable
