A very well crafted movie around the harsh realities for Mexican migrants trying to cross over to America. Very natural acting by those in the lead roles. The absence of background music was also appreciated. Check out the director's articulate observations in 'special features' after the movie.
Gritty and realistic story of a group of teenagers trying to make it into America in the hope of escaping their poverty striken lives in Guatamala to a world of delights. This doesn't shy away from what is actually happening in the real world today and makes for an interesting, if very downbeat story. Essential viewing for anyone interested in the world around them and the hopes and dreams of a better life despite the troubles and hardships to get there.
I expected a lot more. I found the film unnecessarily depressed and lifeless. On occasions, I couldn't establish if location was Guatemala, Mexico or, in the end, even the USA.
Definitely not for me.
