Synopsis:
In this memorable BBC dramatisation of E. Nesbit's classic 1906 tale, we follow the adventures of three children; Roberta, Peter, and Phyllis. The children's lives change dramatically when their father is arrested on suspicion of being a spy. With a move from London to Yorkshire, the family take residence in "The Three Chimney's", a house near the railway. During their adventures the children befriend an old man who travels daily on the 0915 train, take care of a Russian exile called Mr. Szczepansky, and help a young boy who is stuck in the tunnel with an injured leg.

Magical period piece - The Railway Children review by CP Customer

My daughter aged 11 enjoyed this story but found the black and white film off putting. Jenny Aguter is very breathy and girly; much as i remembered her. For me it was very dated and a bit sugary but enojyable all the same.

But one that can be enjoyed by adults too, especially anyone who was alive in the 1940 or 50's.

Recently listed as one of the 100 best UK films of all times.

Much humour, well cast, and well directed.
