Synopsis:
Nobel Prize winning German scientist, Werner Heisenberg, is aiding the Nazis' efforts to develop an atom bomb using 'heavy water' from a factory deep in the Norwegian mountains. Desperate to crush Hitler's catastrophic goal, The Allies plan and mount a series of daring sabotage missions to blow up the plant before the Germans can create their potentially devastating nuclear weapon, an enterprise fraught with many dilemmas and epic challenges, the outcome of which will determine the future of democracy itself. Leading English, Norwegian and German actors portray the real-life characters and heroes of one of the most exciting stories from the Second World War, dramatised over six parts.

Spoiled by fictional characters - The Saboteurs review by TA

Spoiler Alert
07/12/2020

Could have been an excellent telling of Operation Grouse/Freshman/Gunnerside ... but ... Anna Friel's fictional Captain Smith is a constant irritant. What were the production staff thinking?

Why would a Colonel defer to a Captain? What is the silly hat perched on the side of her head and her uniform and medals- oh dear? Why add a Captain Carter (Marvel) remould to a real story?

The shouty American bombing planner is of no value to the story and constant "we have to stop the nazi atom bomb" is just silly . Nobody outside a very controlled small group new the true use of the Manhattan project etc , even Harry Truman (the man approved the use of the US bomb) was not briefed untill after Roosevelt died.

A story of extreme daring and courage ruined by the desire to bring in misplaced 21st century equality standards and vast innacuracy.
