- This moving and powerful drama from the acclaimed director of 'Alice and Martin' and 'Strayed' follows the lives of a group of friends and lovers in 1980s France. Handsome young Manu (Johan Liberau) arrives in Paris where he shares a cheap hotel room with his sister (Julie Depardieu). He soon strikes up a platonic friendship with fifty-something Adrien (Michel Blanc) who introduces Manu to his friends Sarah (Emmanuelle Beart) and her partner Mehdi (Sami Bouajila). Unexpectedly, sparks fly between Manu and Mehdi and the two embark upon a secret and passionate affair that will ultimately change everybody's lives.

The Germination of the AIDS Epidemic from a European view point - The Witnesses review by KW
A very interesting film show the germination of the AIDS epidemic in France and the impact it had on the lives of various members of the community. Holding the film to gather was the enduring relationship between Manu and Adrien who later becomes one of the leading activists in Paris with his connections to the health service. Sub plots also help to keep the story line moving and added an extra dimension to film. Having lived through this period I found it fascinating and thought provoking at the same time.
