- The comedy 'This Is the End' follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Possibly the worst, unfunny film we have seen in at least a decade...possibly our lifetime. Reasonable effects, full of stars who must now have regretted their minor roles.
Constantlt saying FCUK does not make a poor film funny.

This is a Low. - This Is the End review by Steve
James Franco, what have you done. You were in 127 Hours. You were great.... But this... Obviously a heavy amount of money was thrown at this piece of US religious right propaganda, in which a load of actors playing frat-jocks and nerds/etc get to meet their maker for having sinned. The stars rather smugly play themselves as stars, but that's the least of its problems. One day, will they have to answer for this?

Definitely made for their own amusement, script probably written on the back of a beer mat whilst all sat around getting wasted. Really - don't bother waste your time!

Using the end of the world as a setup for a comedy film seems quite popular at the moment with last years Seeking a Friend for the End of the World being a surprisingly hilarious and moving comedy set on a planted awaiting its inevitable future. This is the End sets its action during the actual apocalypse and while a lot more action packed, it lacks the comedy gold expected from a film created by the team behind some great raunchy comedies.
The film follows Jay (Jay Baruchel) and Seth (Seth Rogen) as they reunite when Jay arrives in LA to visit. They find themselves attending a party at James Franco’s house and find themselves hunkering down when the world begins to end around them. Together with James (James Franco), Jonah (Jonah Hill), Craig (Craig Robinson) and Danny (Danny McBride) they must stick together in the hope of surviving the many dangers roaming the Earth thanks to the apocalypse.
While the film seems to suggest an action filled comedy romp the film is suprisingly stationary as these characters hide in the same place for most of the films run time making it rather tame. When the film finally does decide a change of scenery is in order the film comes to life with some great action set pieces and some truly outrageous comedy including one of the funniest gimp unmaskings ever to be added to the zeitgeist.
It’s a film entirely about the hatred friends can have for one another and as comedy goes its pretty damn funny. Rogen and Franco once again steal the show while Robinson and Baruchel garner plenty of hearty laughs. Although it's not groundbreaking in its execution and the film lacks the menace or danger of an apocalyptic film it’s a good way to spend 90 minutes and it will leave you with plenty of ever so slightly wrong one liners.
