This documentary is superb. You feel like you really begin to understand Van Gogh's art and what inspired him. The film is sensitive
to the isolation he felt and the urgency he felt in trying to produce art that represented reality. It is a beautiful well produced film and introduces an audience to so much that perhaps we in the UK do not know about his passion for Japan and Japanese art and the symmetry and paradox of Japanese society decades later returning this passion to embrace his art.
A stunning film. Just read the review below and we had no similar problems so perhaps this is a new disc.
This was a fascinating story that needed better production. The first half was fine but after that there were many views of a Japanese gentleman telling us all about it, but without sub-titles, resulting in much frustration. In addition parts of the later section broke up both in the picture and the sound, similar to our experience with Oklahoma. It really isn't good enough.
