Synopsis:
When Laure (Valerie Lemercier) leaves her apartment to have dinner with a couple of friends, she unwittingly drives directly into one of the biggest traffic jams that Paris has ever seen. Once there, she is captive to the Paris night and, with nothing else to do, she listens to the radio and lets her imagination run wild. Soon, the motorists blocking the streets begin offering shelter to pedestrians caught in the rain. Remaining cautious, Laure keeps the doors of her car firmly closed. But she sees a stranger (Vincent Lindon) and impulsively decides to take a chance. And so begins a night of unplanned and unrestrained sensuality.

ABSOLUTE DROSS - Vendredi Soir review by JS

Spoiler Alert
07/02/2021

Unless you are one of those who believes that French Cinema must be held beyond criticism or have a fetish for traffic jams, then steer clear of this rubbish.

There is a story, of course, but even when you think you have a vague idea as to what is happening it drifts off into blurred cinematography.

Resentment - Vendredi Soir review by MM

Spoiler Alert
21/11/2023

It has been said that little or nothing happens in the films of Andrei Tarkovsky. Should you watch "Vendredi Soir", you will realise that this is unjust. The films of the Russian director, compared to this film, are full of interest and vitality. A traffic jam, a one-night stand, nothing else. No conversation, no ideas, not even interesting photography. Only tedium, and a growing resentment.
