- Sam (Justin Long) is suffering from a severe case of writer's block until the day he meets Birdie (Evan Rachel Wood), the girl of his dreams. Unfortunately, he doesn't believe she will be interested in him so decides to do a little search online to discover her likes and dislikes. Using Birdie's social media profile, Sam realises that he can become whatever she likes in a potential boyfriend, at the same time as getting inspiration for his writing - so he keeps up the act. However, he doesn't realise that Birdie is actually falling for the 'new Sam'. When he learns about her feelings, Sam struggles to keep up the act, and soon, leading a double life is more trouble than he can handle.
