- Synopsis:
Husband and wife team and Royal Shakespeare Company players Dame Judi Dench and Michael Williams star in this BAFTA award-winning ITV series from the early 1980's. She plays Laura, who is thirty-seven and unmarried. He plays Mike, also single. Laura's sister, Helen, (Susan Penhaligon) is keen to see Laura 'married off' and introduces her to Mike at a party. The relationship is awkward but they pretend they are getting along well to keep Helen happy...Laura and Mike are still together but everything they plan seems to end in disaster. The problems really begin when Laura gets broody and, deciding she wants to have children, realises that she has not got much time left. Mike, on the other hand, does not like the idea and a wedge is brought between them. - Actors:
