Ed Mills (Benjamin King), a promising baseball player on the verge of stardom, sees his dreams shattered when he becomes a single parent.
Five years later, he is a small-town mechanic, trying his best to raise his seven-year-old daughter Abby (Hallie Kate Eisenberg). Ed reaches out to Abby the only way he knows how-through baseball-and encourages her to join an all-boy little league team. Abby, however, prefers ballet lessons and spending time with other little girls, much to Ed's disappointment. As they slowly begin to grow apart, Ed realizes he cannot force his own interests upon his daughter.
In order to let go of the past, he must pursue his own dreams and accept Abby as she is. He decides to return to the game he loves and tries his hand at playing professional baseball. Meanwhile, he and Abby discover all they need is right in front of them-each other.
