When he was a young rebel agitating against the Shah's regime, director Mohsen Makhmalbaf stabbed a policeman in an attempt to make off with his gun. Twenty years later, the policeman and the director meet up and decide to re-enact the moment. This film records the rehearsal period, following the participants in their search for actors to play their young selves, and explores the fateful event from a number of different perspectives, considering its effects upon the lives of those involved.
