- When their wives die on the same day in the same hospital, ex-RAF fighter pilot Reginald Conyngham-Jervis and former milkman Roy Southgate suddenly become two lonely widowers who are left struggling to rebuild their lives. From opposite poles of the social spectrum, Reggie and Roy seem the most unlikely pair to form any sort of friendship. Reggie's mind is taken off his loss when he meets Liz, the glamorous widow and owner of a boutique that is losing money. He is soon captivated by her spell, but has she fallen in love or does she just see Reggie as a way to get rich quickly?
