The haunting story of a faded Southern belle whose illusions about herself conflict with reality, based on the classic Tennessee Williams's Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Blanche DuBois (Ann-Margret) is now alone. Her famous beauty has faded and she has lost the family's once grand estates and even her sister Stella (Beverly D'Angelo) has moved away to New Orleans to make a new life for herself. Blanche then loses her job and is forced to leave town but she has nowhere to go but to Stella and her new husband, Stanley (Treat Williams) - a violent, brutal, manipulative man who leads the two sisters down the path of tragedy and madness.
