Then a young, 28 year old director, Benoît Jacquot met Alfred Deller in 1975 and !lmed a documentary-interview with the counter-tenor. Then aged 63, Alfred Deller answers Jean-Claude Biette's questions. This film is a combination of interview, portrait and concert. Whether as part of a sextet with the Deller Consort, of a duet with Robert Spencer's lute or during interviews, Alfred Dellers' relationship with the camera remains natural and spontaneous at all times, his speech of a rarely seen density. Found in the archives of the INA (the French National Audiovisual Institute) and subsequently restored, this !lm constitutes one of the few testimonies of Alfred Deller ever recorded on film.
