After the failure of his business and the death of his wife, Dan (Robert Davi) and his two daughters decide to leave America to try and build a new life in Rio De Janeiro. Befriended by a gold-digging pilot they set off on the diamond trail of the Amazon basin, against the advice of a beautiful village teacher. Hope leads to despair as the plane crashes. Relying on the hospitality of the native Indians he is brought back to life. In the search for his children, he travels upstream in a canoe and contemplates the beautiful paradise that surrounds him and the approaching ecological threat that has been brought on by the pursuit of wealth. This is a story of human strength which is ultimately threatened by human greed.
