Synopsis:
Possession knows no bounds in this supernatural thriller starring Donald Sutherland and Sissy Spacek. An American Haunting is a harrowing account of the true events of The Bell Witch of Tennessee, the only case of its kind in US History where a spirit or entity caused the death of a man. With over thirty-five books written on the subject, and a town that continues to live in fear of the return of the unseen spirit, the story is simply terrifying. It would not be until years later that we would be taken back to the terrible night the spirit was born, to establish the horrific truth about its nature and origin...

SCARY! - American Haunting review by CP Customer

The film started getting very good, quite quickly I thought. Some bits of it were very scary, others a little repetative!

I didn't guess the ending and it was good to be suprised, although I was a little confused after it had finished, but can't say without giving anything away! (but that could just be me being thick!!!)

Watch it!!!!!!

A poor retelling of the Bell witch tale. - American Haunting review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
12/05/2010

Set in early 1800's Tennessee, 'An American Haunting' tells the story of the Bell family who become the victims of a repeated number supernatural attacks after they are cursed by a local woman who claims John Bell owes her money in a land dispute. The Bell's teenage daughter is repeatedly targeted and physically attacked by the spirit and despite many attempts to solve the problem the supernatural attacks soon escalate. Despite a fairly good storyline which has a decent twist in the tale, the film is a fairly poor effort. The special effects are often quite poor, the story has some silly plot-holes, and the prologue and epilogue scenes set in the present day seemed tacked on and cheesy and pretty much destroy any atmosphere built up in the main story. Overall, this is a fairly average supernatural thriller, not that scary and not that good.
