- It is a cold, dark and rainy night. A group of priests gather, shivering outside a house. Silently each removes a crucifix and rosary beads from a large black bag and moves towards the front door. It is the final attempt to purge the evil from the house...3000 miles away and two weeks later, recently widowed Nancy Evans and her three children have just moved into her mother Alice's house. The same day a package arrives from Alice's sister, a birthday present, containing a large and vaguely sinister lamp purchased at a yard sale...in Amityville. The evil has escaped.
