The major military powers of today use sea-mobile forces to project their strengths around the world with assault ships and specialised landing vessels deploying an amazing array of craft, amphibious vehicles and hovercraft. This video takes you with the U.S. and British Marines and their Soviet counterparts on training exercises landing on enemy occupied shores from northern Norway to the Middle East. All their major weapons and equipment are seen in action including, for the first time on video, the U.S. Marines' most modern AAV7A1 armoured amphibious assault vehicle and the futuristic LCAC hovercraft which can carry a 60-tonne load at up to 50mph. Also included are sequences of U.S. SEALS and Royal Marine raiders going ashore for reconnaissance or sabotage missions such as those which preceded the Grenada and Falklands landings. This superb footage is enhanced by a detailed script from military authority Bruce Quarrie.
