Captivating then and now - An Enemy of the People review by IH
Quite different to Ray's other films but still vital in its impact. It is clearly a theatrical performance but uses Ibsen brilliantly in the Indian context. Sanitation is a crucial political and social issue in the Indian context and the debate reflects Ray's permanent concerns and determined commitments and political courage.
