Synopsis:
"Anari" is a story of true and innocent love, which knows no status, qualification, wealth, or any such thing, but just the beatings of the heart. It shows that, despite all obstacles and barriers that the cruel world may erect, love always triumphs in the end. Rajnandini (Karishma Kapoor) is the beloved sister of three brothers: Bhairaja (Suresh Oberoi), Manjleraja and Choteraja (Gulshan Grover), who are big landowners and the terror of their village. An astrologer's prediction during childhood that Nandini would get married against their wishes makes her brothers confine Nandini to the palace. Any outside male who even sets eye on her is punished.
Rama (Venkatesh), considered to be a harmless idiot, is allowed into the palace to entertain with his singing. Then, seeing his physical prowess, Bhairaja hires him as Nandini's bodyguard. One day, Rama saves Nandini's life, Nandini falls in love with him and makes the unsuspecting Rama tie the "mangalsutra" on her, which is a sign of wedlock between a man and a women. When her brothers start searching for a husband for her, Nandini is forced to declare that she has already taken Rama as her husband. Nandini's furious brothers are after Rama's blood. Not finding him, they torture his mother Savitri (Rakhee), but, Rama comes to her rescue. Nandini, thinking that she's lost her beloved Rama, tries to take her own life. Nandini's brothers realize hat only Rama can save her, so they repent of their sins and beg Rama to come to her aid, through his singing, reviews Nandini, and the two lovers come together at last.
