Spirited out of Moscow during the Russian revolution in 1918, young Anastasia awakens with a severe case of amnesia to find herself in the care of a peasant family in Siberia. They tell her that she is their daughter "Anna". In reality she is a Grand Duchess, the youngest daughter of Czar Nicholas II and the only member of the royal family to escape from the Bolshevik revolutionaries who have taken over Russia. Slowly her memory returns. The peasant family tells her of the tragic fate of her real family and the dangers facing her from the Bolsheviks, who are looking for her. High adventure follows as she and her friends travel across the countryside to Czarist loyalists, who are waiting to guide her to safety outside the country.
