Collection of episodes from the Discovery Channel series which looks at the warrior groups and armies that have shaped world history.
The Normans One of the most pivotal dates in English history is 1066 when one of the greatest battles that ever took place on English soil occurred. How did the Norman duke William manage to triumph over the English? Through colourful re-enactments and computer graphics we can follow the action of Williams military strategy as he gathers together his troops, sets sail for England, lands close to Hastings and fights the unprepared King Harold and the English. With a fantastic descriptive commentary, Ancient Warriors, The Normans shows how this siege was the last successful invasion of England's shores by a foreigner.
The Vikings The Vikings will always be remembered as the greatest sailors and fiercest warriors of their day. These warriors from Denmark, Norway and Sweden were skilled in building long ships, and water that was usually a barrier that kept enemies at bay became for them a highway to invasion. In 793AD, these marauders from the North crossed the sea to Lindisfarne in Northumbria where they burned buildings, stole treasures, killed some of the monks and drowned others in the sea. Ancient Warriors, The Normans re-enacts the plundering and terrorising that happened during this terrifying period in England's history.
