During World War II the fortunes began to shift and to go against the Axis powers, noticeably after the defeat at Stalingrad. As a consequence, the fighting on virtually all fronts became increasingly desperate and attacks on civilians were filled with terror weapons. One of these weapons that came to terrorize thousands of Allied civilians were the German rockets, developed under the scientific leadership of Werner von Braun, later to be known as one of the founders of the US space programme. This 63 minute programme, describing the impact of terror weapons, is produced using original and unique archive footage and deals with the science, tactics and horrors of this new chapter in warfare. The programme consists of three components: documentary evidence of the devastation resulting from rocket attacks; the development of the powerful V2 rocket and finally the fierce defense of the strategically important city of Antwerp as it was being attacked by V1 rockets
