Its 1862 and the Victorian Turf Club announces the running of Australia's richest horse race ever, an event that will become known worldwide as the Melbourne Cup. One top cup contender is racehorse Archer. But Archer is nearly 600 miles north of Melbourne, with untracked rugged country in between. Archers young handler, Dave Power, volunteers to ride the horse to Melbourne and sets off on the journey of a lifetime.
