A commercial airliner is suddenly jolted, loses all power and crashes into the sea. It's the second crash of a U.S. airliner in two days under identical circumstances. On the same day, the U.S. Air Force's top-secret Mach 6 attack plane, Aurora 1, vanishes without a trace over Central Asia. Assistant Secretary of Defence Bill Stenghel (Lance Henriksen) receives a video-tape from Francesca Zaborszin (Natasha Andreichenko), scientist and daughter of the late Dr. Alexander Zaborszin, a prominent space weapons pioneer. She demands that the U.S. government admit responsibility for the mysterious death of her father three years earlier or she will down another airliner every four hours with an electromagnetic pulse weapon (EMP) targeted through the Global Positioning Satellite System (GPS). Stenghel calls on ace pilot Gordy Pruett (Bruce Wayne) and Andy Aldrich (John Stockwell). He orders them to fly the only plane with the speed and power to stop this madwoman - Aurora 2. In the end it is Aurora vs Aurora at 60,000 feet in a supersonic war of nerves and daring which will finally reveal the secrets of Aurora: Operation Intercept!
