Synopsis:
"The Australian Ballet" began life fired by the passion of a handful of people who had a dream. This is a dream since shared by thousands of dancers, choreographers, designers and enthusiasts who have come to share the joy of ballet over the past 40 years. In Beyond 40, David McAllister and Adrian Burnett present these people and their dance: from Dame Peggy Van Praagh and Sir Robert Helpmann to modern talents such as Stephen Page, Stephen Baynes and Stanton Welch. Using Graeme Murphy's Beyond Twelve as a metaphor, Beyond 40 starts with highlights from the company's early classics before the stars of today dance the past and present masterpieces. A celebration of what has been and an indication of what is still to come, Beyond 40 captures the magic of creative partnership between the extraordinary people who have, and those who continue to contribute to the life of "The Australian Ballet".
