Founded in 1967 by Claude Nobs, the Montreux Jazz Festival has established itself as one of the most prestigious annual music events in the world. The extraordinary list of artists who have played there is drawn from across the musical spectrum and from around the world. The Average White Band only performed at Montreux in 1977 but their concert was definitely one of the highlights of that year's festival. From the opening bars of their signature tune "Pick Up The Pieces" through to a storming version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" at the end they hold the audience in the palm of their hand. In between they sprinkle hits such as "Work To Do", "A Love Of Your Own" and "Cut The Cake".
