Synopsis:: Is he a man, who because of adverse circumstances turns into a bad person? No. The true human being is one who, despite circumstances remains true and good. These are the words of Mala (Mumtaz) who is a dancer; she has pierced Shamu's heart. Shamu (Amitabh Bachchan), a thief was masquerading as Deepak a playwright. Little did Mala know that she was addressing a criminal. And when Deepak died, Shamu continues with his charade, even pretending to love Rajni (Kumud Chuggani), Deepak's girl friend. Shamu loves Mala, but with the law hot on his heels, Shamu has to continue with his double life. He is like a man who has reached his goal, but cannot grasp it. His hands are bound.
