'Battlefield Britain' is a powerful and innovative BBC series spanning nearly 2,000 bloody and turbulent years of battles fought on British soil. Peter and Dan Snow, father and son historians, travel to the actual battle sites and use computer generated images woven together with dramatic re-enactments to make history come alive including 'The Spanish Armada'. At 3pm on 29th July 1588, a little way off Lizard Point in Cornwall, one of the greatest invasion fleets in history stretched from one horizon to another. One hundred and twenty ships, each with the red cross of religious crusade on their sails, slowed to a standstill and the 29,000 men on board had their first glimpse of the Cornish coast.
