Ludwig Van Beethoven has played a major role in the professional development of the violin virtuosa Anne-Sophie Mutter: She devoted 1998 to Beethoven, undertaking an enthusiastically received worldwide recital tour playing the complete cycle of the composer's violin sonatas, as well as recording them for audio and audio-visual release. Lambert Orkis was her pianist for this marathon venture. On this documentary, Anne-Sophie Mutter talks about her development as a musician: playing the piano aged five, meeting Herbert Von Karajan, with whom she performed a large repertoire of classical violin music. She expresses her passion for Beethoven, which started early in her career when Karajan asked her to study the violin concerto.
