This time-honoured tale follows a beautiful ebony horse on his journey through the rollercoaster of life. A poignant story that will remain a classic in the hearts and minds of all children and adults. The story begins with Black Beauty as a young colt who is raised by his mother and enjoys playing with his loyal friend Ginger. Before parting from his mother Beauty remembers her final words 'do your best where ever you go and above all keep a good name'. Beauty's first master Squire Gordon is a fair and gentle owner that makes him comfortable and safe in his surroundings. The Squire's daughter Jenny adopts Black Beauty as her favourite horse, lavishing all of her love and attention on to the young colt. However, fate soon changes Beauty's feelings towards humans, after he is sold into the hands of a very cold owner Lady Westmont, who cruelly mistreats her animals. But Beauty remains undefeated, and his inner strength and gentle temper remain with him throughout. Fate then takes Black Beauty to a loving home when he is purchased by Jeremiah Baker, a London cab driver who ensures no harm comes to him.
