- On the edge of the Gobi desert in Northwest China, Lang (Eddie Peng) returns to his hometown after being released from jail. While working for the local dog patrol team to clear the town of stray dogs before the Olympic Games, he strikes up an unlikely connection with a black dog. These two lonely souls now embark on a new journey together. This is a soulful story about a man and a dog as they unite together to turn a new page in life.

Bleak and Beautiful - Black Dog review by griggs
Bleak and beautiful, Black Dog lingers in the dust of a soul-starved desert town. The harsh, unforgiving landscape mirrors its loner protagonist—both worn down, both shut off. But as walls crack, so does the terrain. What starts as stark isolation slowly softens into something unexpectedly tender. Quietly mesmerising.
