- Synopsis:
- Before 9/11 (World Trade Center, New York City), 7/7 (London Underground) and the Madrid blasts, came March 12, 1993. 12 bombs are set off in Bombay within a span of two hours. A brutal police investigation uncovers a terrorist-mafia conspiracy hatched in the name of religious retaliation by Muslims against a Hindu majority. In docu-drama style director Anurag Kashyap adapts a journalist's account of the events of the day and how they escalated. 'Black Friday' premiered in Competition at the 2004 Locarno Film Festival. Subsequently the release was banned by the Indian judiciary for two years. Now released, it is one of the most lauded Indian films in recent times.
