Synopsis:
A small tourist cruiser on the Stockholm archipelago drops a motley array of people on an apparently deserted island. The island is called Kallskar and it has a dark history. This is where cholera patients were transported in the 19th century, refugees from the Baltic states were held there during the war, and then troublesome delinquents in the 1970's. Johan, Minnie, Vincent, Oscar, Isabell and Amina have different reasons for being there. A trying time awaits them, both physically and mentally. And the dramatic past of the island makes its presence felt. As an old murder is brought to light, is history about to repeat itself?

So-so spooky Swedish whodunnit mystery drama series, but overlong & flabby, 8 parts is way too many - Black Lake: Series 2 review by PV

Spoiler Alert
21/07/2024

Hmmm well, this went on and on and on, over 8 parts, 43 minutes each. Probably could have told the same tale in 4 parts.

It dragged badly, and the ghosty, eerie stuff failed to convince. As in the first Black Lake (not sure how the lead in that can be the lead here unless it is a prequel?)

So many plot holes here. WHY didn't they do XYZ? I asked myself as I watched.

Just a long WHO DUNNIT really with added spooky haunted house themes.

By the end I was weary of it, eyerolling away. No fault of actors, they did well. The writing is flabby - an editor needed badly.

I hope there are no more Black Lakes.
