When Blackmore's Night rolled in to York on 30th September 2011, the autumn sky on that day was more akin to midsummer. The heat scorched the medieval streets and the sunlight bathed the old city walls. Inside the Grand Opera House, Ritchie Blackmore, Candice Night and their band of minstrels were generating their own warmth as they took their devoted audience on a musical journey through the ages. 'A Knight In York' captures all the magic of a Blackmore's Night show. It was the first show back in Ritchie Blackmore's homeland for four years. Since that time the band has produced two new albums, 'Secret Voyage' and 'Autumn Sky'. This stunningly shot film captures wonderful live versions of songs from both those albums, such as 'Locked Within The Crystal Ball' and 'Darkness', which have already become established favourites within the band's now burgeoning repertoire. This feature also includes the first release of the band's interpretation of 'First Of May' - a rarely played ballad, originally done by the Bee Gees, and a spontaneous performance for Blackmore's Night, on special nights such as this one in York, when the band and audience were in perfect harmony. With an additional smattering of songs from earlier albums, most notably the classic 'Fires At Midnight', we suggest you grab yourself a glass of mead, light the candles, sit down, relax and immerse yourself with A Knight In York.
